Language app Babbel humorously illustrates the benefit of communication in a delightful new film directed by comedy pro David Shane.
To show just how difficult it can be when you don’t speak the language, the ad, by Wieden & Kennedy London, revolves around an alien abroad whose adorable personality is at odds with his Dr. Who-style prosthetics. No one understands his alien utterings as he tries to do something as simple as asking for his hotel room key or order a doughnut. But then, he sees an ad for Babbel, and it all changes–before long he’s practicing asking for a cheese sandwich on the bus and engaging in banter with everyone he meets.
It’s all documented with gentle humor and the kind of witty touches you’d expect from O Positive’s Shane (who previously directed other funny creatures for Spectrum, as well as the award-winning 2015 CurrysPCWorld campaign with Jeff Goldblum).
The ad is running in the U.K., France, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Sweden, Australia, Portugal, Italy, and Switzerland.
