Bluetooth Speakers with IKEA Minimalism

IKEA’s line of gadgets for the home now includes two Bluetooth speakers. The ENEBY speakers can be mounted onto stands, wall brackets and placed into IKEA-designed storage systems and come in white, grey and black.

The smaller ENEBY speaker, measuring 20cm by 20cm, costs £45 and the larger version (30cm by 30cm) costs £80. What sets IKEA’s speakers apart from the deluge of Bluetooth rivals is how they fit into the firm’s ubiquitous home furniture, with both speakers wedging neatly into IKEA’s KALLAX or EKET storage systems.

The design, as you’d expect from IKEA, is minimalist. There’s a knob on the front to turn it on and off and adjust the bass or treble. For devices without Bluetooth, you can connect using a 3.5mm AUX cable. The mesh front panel of both speakers can also be removed for a slightly different look.

IKEA is also collaborating with creative collective firm Teenage Engineering on the design of a new audio range. The project, announced in June 2017 and set for release in early 2019, includes a turntable, party lighting, and electronic choir.
